Anti-Darwin speaker gagged at Vatican evolution conference

Ik denk wel dat de mensen die deze man het zwijgen oplegden de beste bedoelingen hadden, maar ik vrees dat we op onze vingers kunnen uittellen hoe dit uitgelegd gaat worden door de creationistische boegbeelden. Jammer dat zoiets zo loopt.
Ofdat ze juist zaten durf ik niet over te oordelen. De evolutietheorie wordt wel onderschreven door het Vaticaan, maar ik denk zeker dat het creationisme zijn proponeneten heeft in de roomse kerk. Dus naar mijn mening had deze actie veel meer op zijn plaats geweest tijdens een seculiere conferentie dan hier.

De site van Yahya, opend al met een leugen: Reuters confirms the conference is antidemocratic.
Dit is wat reuters publiceerde, ze schreven gewoon de reactie van Baduna op.
“After I walked back to my seat someone said “only evolutionists can ask questions,” Babuna told Reuters afterwards. “This is very anti-democratic and very unacademic. If this is a scientific meeting … if you have scientific questions to ask, they should be responded to scientifically, everybody accepts that … if you force people to shut up and don’t let them ask any question … then it is not a scientific theory but an ideology.” The spat was filmed by Babuna’s associate Dr Cihat Gundogdu, who put an edited version on the Harun Yahya website.
Hij zegt ook dat Douglas Futuyma Rome is ontvlucht, het idee wekkend dat dat tengevolge van bovenstaande zou zijn, wat niet waar is:
Futuyma was one of dozens of scientists, theologians and philosophers invited to speak at a conference in Rome March 3-7 marking the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin's "Origin of Species" in which he put forth his theory on evolution.
The conference, titled "Biological Evolution: Facts and Theories," was sponsored and organized by the Pontifical Council for Culture's Science, Technology and the Ontological Quest project, the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, and several of Rome's pontifical universities.
In his talk, Futuyma said modern genetic discoveries have confirmed what Darwin and others concluded from studying and comparing the anatomy and embryos of different species -- that all living organisms descend from a common ancestry.
