Edina and Patsy Absolutely Fabulous will resume in the present day, building up to the London Olympics
Hit comedy Absolutely Fabulous is to return to BBC One later this year with three specials to celebrate the show's 20th anniversary, the BBC has said.
Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley will return as Edina and Patsy along with other original cast members.
Julia Sawalha will resume the role of put-upon daughter Saffy, June Whitfield as Edina's mother and Jane Horrocks as personal assistant Bubble.
The award-winning series ran from 1992 to 2003 with a special in 2004.
It depicted the raucous, fashion addicted lives of PR guru Edina, with her constant weight battles, and her best friend, the glamorous sex-mad magazine editor Patsy.
Saunders, who is also the show's creator, said: "Like a good bottle of champagne we hope that we have got better with time without losing any of our sparkle.
"Last week when we started filming in dear old west London, it was as if nothing had changed. It was raining.
"Nevertheless, we are so happy to be working for an audience that has grown just a tiny bit older like us, but is still willing to let us fall over on TV in the name of PR."
'Surprising guests'
In the first episode, audiences will rejoin the ensemble in the middle of a "life-changing experience for one - which affects them all".
In the second show, Edina sets her sights on changing the career of someone described by the BBC as "a very big fish indeed".
In the concluding episode, Eddy and Patsy play their own part in the 2012 London Olympics.
Jon Plowman, executive producer of BBC Comedy and original producer of the Absolutely Fabulous series, said: "Viewers have been fantastically loyal in their devotion to our show, so we're really thrilled to say that it's coming back for three new shows to celebrate our 20th anniversary.
"All of the originals who are back together again are still truly absolutely fabulous and the new adventures of Edina, Patsy, Saffy, Bubble and Mother, plus a few surprising guests, will be a real treat for viewers."
Alle ab fabs op dvd dus ook voor niet homo's het kijken waard. Maar toevallig laatst erover gehad of er nog een nieuwe serie /aflevering zou komen. Goed nieuws dus

Ik ben toch echt van het ' blote meisjes = mjam , blote kerels is ' bah' type en na blackadder en fawlty towers staat AbFab toch zeker ook in mijn top 5 van Britse comedies.

Heb nu de 2 nieuwe AbFab afleveringen gekeken. Nog steeds net zo leuk als vroeger, de dames zijn weinig veranderd. Eddie is misschien wat dikker en Patsy ietsje ouder (het is moeilijk om 30 jaar lang 39 te blijven) maar de inside jokes zijn geweldig. Vooral leuk als je alle voorgaande seizoenen ook kent.
Patsy , wiens geheimzinnige leeftijd zo langzamerhand Mr Burns-mythische vormen begint aan te nemen, leeft al haar hele leven leeft van lucht, champagne en drugs blijkt geen officieel papier meer te bezitten waaruit blijkt wie ze is. Op haar 'werk' krijgt ze geen salaris, ze betaald nooit belasting, is niet verzekerd en heeft geen eigen huis. Dit is nooit een probleem, behalve dat ze nu een oude drugschuld moet betalen aan de cel-mate van dochter Saffie (2 jaar voor het illegaal binnensmokkelen van asielzoekerkindertjes) Eddie zit ook weer op zwart zaad nadat het appartement weer eens geheel verbouwd is en omdat oma al het tafelzilver bij Flog It verkwanseld. Er moet dus geld komen, maar hoe?
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Het grootse taboe, het P-woord moet er aan te pas komen.

Omdat niemand weet hoe oud Patsy is, weten ze niet op hoeveel achterstallig pensioen ze nog recht heeft. En hoe vraag je zoiets aan?
Om erachter te komen hoe het afloopt moet je zelf maar kijken. Je kunt de 2 afleveringen online vinden, alter dit jaar komt er nog eentje over de olympische spelen.

Erg leuk om de cast weer eens terug te zien. (en Lulu uiteraard, alweer, en die nurse met dat Jamaicaanse accent)
Alleen Mrs M was niet ouder geworden.
Het schijnt dat er toch nog een seizoen komt.
