Ubuntu CE Discontinued

We have made a very difficult decision to discontinue the Ubuntu CE project. The demands of maintaining the distro are many. We have several other Christian projects that also require quite a bit of work. We have decided to put all of our resources into our project, TheJesusTV.com .

Weg met die rommel! Ik vond het maar niks dat religieuzen Ubuntu misbruikten voor hun propaganda.

Nu moet Ubuntu Muslim Edition nog verdwijnen. Zo te zien hebben ze hun naam al veranderd naar "Sabily".

For more than a month and a half (specifically, on 21 January 2009) Canonical sent an email to the Ubuntu Muslim Edition team requesting to change the project name and the URL of the web site because they are inconsistent with its trademark policy:

“We've tried to define a reasonable trademark policy that allows people to customise Ubuntu, and
use the marks to promote the project, while at the same preserving the integrity of the marks.”

Gelukkig misbruiken ze in ieder geval de naam Ubuntu niet meer voor hun religieuze propaganda.

De nachtmerrie van de open source wereld. Open source websystemen worden ook vaak gebruikt voor dat soort dingen dus toen ik modules maakte voor Postnuke had ik een speciale regel dat die niet gebruikt mocht worden voor bepaalde doeleinden. Ik weet niet of dat paste binnen de GPL maar goed.

Die CE is ook nog zo dat als je nieuwsgierig op 'screenshots' klikt je hun sponsors in beeld krijgt. Niet eerlijk, in de zin van oprecht.

Goed nieuws inderdaad!

Ook met open source is dit soort dingen best in de hand te houden denk ik.
Kwestie van strakke regels.

Ik dacht dus dat het over ubuntu voor een palmtop ging
